When planning for scarless breast implant surgery, also known as transaxillary breast surgery, many patients also undergo other cosmetic procedures to address multiple concerns at once. Depending on their goals, this may include a tummy tuck, breast lift, labiaplasty, liposuction, Mommy Makeover, or other cosmetic contouring surgeries designed to restore a more youthful appearance.

While combining procedures offers the convenience of a single anesthesia event and recovery period, it may also involve additional healing requirements, activity restrictions, and recovery considerations.

This blog will discuss what to expect from your recovery period after combining scarless breast implant surgery with other procedures, including common timelines, restrictions, and when your final results will appear.

Recovery Timeline When Combining Scarless Breast Implant Surgery With Other Cosmetic Procedures

Healing time, activity restrictions, discomfort, and return to daily routines vary by individual. While there is no single correct recovery time, below is a typical timeline for most combination procedures.

Immediately After Surgery

Right after surgery, your surgical team will monitor you within a designated recovery area as your anesthesia wears off. Compression garments, support bras, and post-operative dressings are commonly used to minimize swelling, support healing tissues, and shape your desired breast shape during early recovery.

Because combination procedures involve multiple surgical areas healing simultaneously, recovery is often more involved compared to scarless breast augmentation alone. Arrange for someone to drive you home, help with childcare, household tasks, and daily activities.

The First Week

During the first few days of recovery, you will see varying degrees of bruising, tightness, swelling, and discomfort depending on your surgical plan. Patients recovering from breast augmentation often find that tightness, swelling, and discomfort peak between days three and five before gradually improving.

Following activity restrictions during the first week is one of the most important factors in supporting proper healing and reducing the risk of complications at this critical stage. Dr. Lo encourages light walking and gentle stretching to support circulation, but you should avoid strenuous exercise and lifting heavy objects. If your treatment involves a tummy tuck, you may require additional assistance with certain activities.

Scarless breast implant surgery does not require drains. However, your other procedures may have drains that are removed during your follow-up appointment two to seven days after surgery.

Weeks 2 to 3

After a few weeks, early bruising, discomfort, and swelling continue to fade. Most patients begin feeling more like themselves during this stage and can gradually resume work, social activities, and light exercise as recommended by Dr. Lo. However, you should avoid strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, and movements that put tension on your incision sites.

Breast augmentation patients often return to desk work after one week, while tummy tuck patients typically require at least two weeks depending on the physical demands of their job.

If your surgical plan includes labiaplasty, swelling and sensitivity may persist, even as you return to normal activities.

Months 1 to 2

By one month after surgery, most visible bruising has resolved, and swelling has improved significantly, although subtle swelling may persist for several more weeks. Most patients begin increasing their activity levels at this time. However, it’s best to wait until Dr. Lo clears you for strenuous upper-body exercises, especially if you’ve undergone more extensive procedures.

Some patients may still be instructed to wear compression garments or other post-operative support garments, particularly after tummy tuck or liposuction. For such cases, strenuous physical activity may be delayed for at least six weeks.

For labiaplasty patients, strenuous exercise, sexual activity, and tampon use may be restricted for four to six weeks.

Several Months and Beyond

After the first few months, most patients feel fully recovered from early side effects and return to their normal routines. While some swelling may still linger, it will generally continue to improve over six months to a year.

Your final results continue to appear as residual swelling decreases. For example, swelling after tummy tuck surgery may take around six months to subside fully. Labiaplasty swelling can take about 3 months to improve.

Your healing process depends on your natural healing response and how well you follow your post-operative instructions.

When Can I Expect to See My Final Results?

Recovery after combining scarless breast implant surgery with other procedures is highly individualized and depends on the procedures performed and your body's healing response. Your full recovery timeline and final results depend on which procedures you have, the extent of the surgery, and how your body heals.

While scarless breast augmentation results are noticeable immediately after surgery, swelling and breast tissue may take months to fully settle into their final position as swelling decreases and tissues adapt to the implants. If you combine scarless breast augmentation with body contouring procedures such as tummy tuck surgery, swelling may take longer to subside. Most patients see significant improvement within the first few weeks, but final results from breast augmentation, tummy tuck surgery, and other combined procedures are often best evaluated several months after surgery.

Dr. Lo will monitor your recovery progress during follow-up appointments and set realistic expectations.
