When you make the decision to contact our office and begin exploring your options for cosmetic breast surgery, we are confident you will feel like you’ve chosen the right place for you. Whether it’s via phone or email, you will be greeted by our staff who have worked with Dr. Lo for many years! We are a well versed “family” who are 100% dedicated to helping educate you fully on your breast enhancement goals. We are normally able to schedule your consultation within two weeks from your initial contact with us. We have two convenient locations (Philadelphia, PA and Marlton, NJ) and office hours on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Surgeries traditionally are scheduled on Mondays, Tuesdays and, Thursdays and the first Friday of the month and usually happen within 1 month of your first visit.

The Consultation Appointment

Upon your arrival in our office, you will be warmly greeted and made to feel comfortable for your appointment which normally lasts about 45 minutes to an hour. We encourage you to bring your significant other, husband, family member or friend to help you along your journey. This is a time where we are there totally for you because it’s “your” consultation hour and it’s our commitment to see that you are fully educated about your situation and your options to achieve the best result possible. We welcome your questions and encourage you to look at before and after pictures of previous patients of Dr. Lo. We are here to understand your goals so that we can meet your ideal look.

Breast 3D Imaging

One of our experienced team members will take pictures of your breasts on our state of the art 3D Vectra Imaging System, which shows you realistic potential results based on your particular body frame and breast enhancement desires.  We will show you all types of breast implants: saline, gummy bear silicone implants, moderate profile, and high profile implants and show you how it would look on you through the 3D computer-generated breast images. We will discuss the “scarless” breast procedure and how it will benefit you by avoiding any scars on your breasts and not letting anyone know that you had the surgery.  You will try silicone sizers in a bra to see what you might look like with different sized implants. This will ensure your exact wishes are understood and that you will get the breast look that you want.

Meeting Dr. Lo

At this point, Dr. Adrian Lo will meet with you and ask about your goals and wishes, go over your medical history and perform a breast examination. Dr. Lo will decide with you if you are a good candidate for breast implant surgery, which type of implant is best for you and whether a breast lift is recommended. Dr. Lo will go over the 3D computer generated breast images of your ideal look, and your personal wishes for your cosmetic breast surgery. Dr. Lo will answer all of your questions until you feel you are ready to make a decision to move forward with your surgery.  We are not a “sales” type of practice, and not here to “sell” you a service. We firmly believe that Dr. Lo’s ability to help you achieve your beauty goals is a decision that is only for you to make and decide when you are ready to do so. Dr. Lo is here to help you feel better about yourself, improve self-esteem and be more confident about your look.  We encourage you to learn about Dr. Lo, his credentials, achievements and, successes, read our patient testimonials and reviews on credible sites such as Realself.com, vitals.com and, many others. Any “Google” search will lead you to the numerous places you can read reviews on our practice and we encourage this.

Completion of your Consultation

Our patient coordinator will then sit with you to discuss the cost of your breast implant surgery, methods of payment (we accept cash, certified check and credit cards) and how to apply for financing if needed.  We will explain the two state of the art facilities where we perform our surgical procedures, review the anesthesia for the surgery, and discuss your upcoming breast procedure. Dr. Lo and his staff are available throughout your entire experience to answer questions as they may arise during your decision-making process. We have been performing breast surgeries successfully for over 20 years and are fully versed on traditional common questions, as well as most unique and very individual concerns that most women have.  At this point, you may wish to schedule a date for your surgery. Surgeries traditionally can be scheduled within 3-4 weeks after the initial consultation.

Seven to Ten days before Surgery/Preoperative Visit

Prior to your scheduled surgery date, you will come back to the office to be reexamined and to review your goals for breast enhancement with Dr. Lo. At that time, all necessary paperwork will be completed and before photos will be taken. If you required preoperative blood work or medical clearance, Dr. Lo will review the results with you. Most patients do not require any preoperative blood work or clearance. You will be given your prescriptions that you will fill before surgery and you will get your post-surgery bra and written instructions for after the surgery.

Day of Surgery

You will be required to arrive 1 hour prior to your scheduled surgery time. Our physician assistant will be there to see you after your check-in.  Dr. Lo has his own team of nurses and doctors that care for his patients and are experienced in cosmetic breast surgery and will make your surgery as comfortable and pain-free as possible. The nurses will check you in and do a health history and examination. The anesthesia doctor will exam you and discuss with you the anesthesia for the surgery. Dr. Lo will meet with you to review your goals and then draw the plan on your breasts. Your surgery will normally take about 1 hour for breast implants and 1-2 hours if you require a breast lift with breast implants. After surgery, Dr. Lo’s caring nursing team along with Dr. Lo will immediately provide complete comfort care for you, be there with you until you are ready to be discharged and provide full understanding of your post-surgery care. Your total time at the hospital will be about 3-4 hours as it varies on your recovery after surgery and when you will be discharged home with your ride.  You are in good hands and will leave feeling as comfortable and prepared as possible.

The first few days after surgery

Dr. Lo will call you the night of your surgery to check on your status. Our physician assistant will check in with you the following day to again be sure you doing well and having all questions answered to help you feel confident and sure you are doing well. You are allowed to take off the ACE compression wrap and the initial surgical bra and to shower. This is the first time that you will see your new breasts! The breasts will be swollen, a little bruised and the implants will sit higher initially. But you will get a good preview of the size of your new breasts.  You will be reminded to change from your surgical bra to your post-operative bra which you received at your preop visit. You can expect to have some pain for 1-3 days and the intensity varies from patient to patient but is well controlled with pain relief medications and valium as a muscle relaxant. You can drive in 5-7 days if you feel up to it. We advise no heavy lifting over 10 lbs for 2 weeks and no repetitive chest or arm movements. Most women take anywhere from 3-7 days off work or school.

How many visits will I need after the surgery?

The first visit after surgery is in 1 week. An overall check-up will be performed by Dr. Lo and you will leave with breast massage instructions, care of your incisions and any instructions needed. There will another visit scheduled for the following week, then one month after that, three months and then at six months post-surgery. At this point, once a year check-ups are encouraged.

When can I wear a normal bra?

If your healing is normal, Dr. Lo will advise that you wear a soft compression bra with no underwire for the first 2-3 weeks. After your breast implants have settled in place, then you will be allowed to wear normal bras and underwire bras and this is usually around 3 weeks after the surgery.

When can I exercise after breast implant surgery?

Generally, you may begin light exercise 2-3 weeks after the surgery. This would be walking and treadmill. Lower body exercises may be started at any time you feel comfortable. Upper body exercises are started at 3-4 weeks but no chest exercises for 6 weeks.

When can I go swimming or to the beach?

Normally, once your armpit cut has healed which is about 2 weeks, you may go swimming and go to the beach. Sun is not harmful to your new breasts. Your breasts will still be sensitive and still healing and we advise that you avoid very hot water and a hot tub for 4- 6 weeks.

Is the armpit cut safe?

Yes, it is extremely safe.  The cut in the armpit is very superficial and does not interfere with any blood vessels, nerves or lymphatics.  It is less invasive than the nipple or crease incision and does not cut through your breast tissue. Dr. Adrian Lo has performed thousands of transaxillary breast augmentations or the “Scarless” breast implant technique over the last 25 years with no major or even minor complications. (Dr. Lo cautions that you may read about complications of this surgery that are performed by less experienced surgeons.)
